在一場審判之中，一位印度陸軍尉官誠實(shí)但致命的證詞令一位名叫迪拉瓦（Vishwajeet Pradhan 飾）的慣犯將要面臨為期十年的牢獄之災(zāi)。邪惡的迪拉瓦懷恨在心，在蟄伏了十年之后，出獄的他拐走了尉官的女兒阿米拉（艾西瓦婭·雷 Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 飾）。
迪拉瓦將阿米拉帶到了位于勒克瑙的一家妓院之中，在那里，小小的阿米拉開始學(xué)習(xí)各種才藝和禮儀。很快，阿米拉就憑借著她出色的外貌和優(yōu)美的舞姿成為了勒克瑙地區(qū)人人想要瞻仰的高嶺之花。之后，阿米拉結(jié)識(shí)了名叫蘇坦（阿布舍克·巴強(qiáng) Abhishek Bachchan 飾）的男子，一方面，她沉迷與蘇坦所能帶給她的紙醉金迷的生活，另一方面，在內(nèi)心深處，阿米拉依舊對愛情和婚姻生活懷有著幻想與希望。
